The Captains of Peace is a fantasy novel that has been an idea for many years. I have now decided to put pen to paper (more typing to be honest) and make what is in my head available to others.
The main plot is that, many years ago a group of warriors were brought together to form the Captains of Peace. This group was instrumental in the prevention of a war that could only have ended in devastation and death, as all wars do. Some loss however was always inevitable and the king through assassination and the leader of Captains through betrayal died. This was the cost of peace.
Two decades on and the kings son has been on the throne for a few years now. He left the ruling to his steward while he traveled and gained the experience and knowledge to become a king like his father and not a pampered, inexperienced ruler with no concept of the real world. Since being on the throne the new king has been hearing stories and rumour of disturbances. Small villages being raided, travelers going missing, things that some kings would not concern themselves with, but not this king.
The king decides that the reformation of the Captains of Peace is the answer, not just to this concern, but as a permanent answer to whatever concerns may arise. A force that this time is not formed and charged with a single task but an ongoing presence in the kingdom. A prevention rather than cure. Protection for the people. New laws are going to be written and the Captains of Peace are going to uphold them.
